So from my previous post where I talked about how I emptied out my containers, and was thinking about trying different mediums (sand, soil, potting mix), I have to update you that I came to a screaming halt. I broke my leg on Feb 21st taking a beginning snowboarding lesson. I’m told it could be 12 weeks before I’m fully healed (which means 10 weeks go go).
So, now I’m wondering how I’m going to get my containers set up by April. I think the truth is that I won’t. Which means I won’t get my spring plants in. However, having a garden is also understanding the natural rhythms of nature, isn’t it?
So I’ll buy my potting mix and get the containers set up in May. Love Apple Farms starts their sale of organic heirloom tomatoes on March 17th. I may have to skip that this year since I don’t want to have them around if I can’t get them into the ground by early May. It’s not fair to the plant.
Sometimes life throws us curveballs and we just have to respond. But I promise, I will get in tomatoes, cucumbers, and pole beans and hopefully some summer squash as well!
What was your major setback in gardening?
