The night temperatures are staying above 40, and during the day, we’ve been up to 75F. It’s time to start planting early tomatoes, peas, lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, carrots, and radishes. Mind you, my garden’s a mess. I fully intended to start some stupid tomato seeds and have them planted by now, but sometimes, life gets messy too. I had a death in the family, and another has brain and bone cancer, so it’s a matter of time. The squirrels are loving the dirt in the containers and will flop around in them. It’s like they’re taking a dirt bath. SO annoying
This weekend, I’ll go buy more potting soil and special mix to start my seeds. I still need to clean out the grass that grew around my bean poles, and get them restrung.
And this year, I’m saving some space to grow Burpee’s container corn again. Last year, I started the seeds too soon and had a poor germination rate. This year, I’m waiting until the soil hits 60F, and then I’ll plant. The two ears I harvested last year were really exceptionally good.
The flowers are looking great, and have added some sunshine to my heart.
What are you looking forward to doing this weekend?
